Life-threatening injuries after Ontario big rig crash

Big rigs, industrial trucks, tractor-trailers -- whatever you like to call them -- are extremely dangerous to motor vehicle drivers because they are heavy, and slow to maneuver and can crush through a smaller car and its driver and passengers in a heartbeat. This is why, whenever a big rig truck driver takes to the road, he or she is bound by specific rules and regulations designed to keep the truck driver and other drivers safe. Unfortunately, not every truck driver succeeds in staying safe and/or following the rules, and this is when catastrophic accidents and injuries can happen.

Police believe that distracted truck driver caused fatal accident

The provincial police in Ontario claim that a distracted truck driver might have caused a fatal multi-car accident along Highway 400 in Toronto. Tragically, the crash resulted in the death of four people, including a 5-year-old. The accident happened on a recent Friday evening.

Can I be compensated for scarring caused by a truck accident?

Collisions with heavy commercial trucks can result in horrific injuries. Sometimes these injuries fade as the victim recovers, but other times they leave permanent scars and disfigurements. Visible scarring can have a massive emotional and mental impact on the victim, resulting in serious difficulties moving forward with their lives. Often an accident victim with permanent scarring experiences obstacles unharmed people cannot understand.

What are the main causes of truck accidents in Ontario?

In Ontario, collisions between trucks and other motor vehicles happen for a variety of reasons, each of them unique to the circumstances surrounding the accident. Unforeseen issues like sudden weather changes or even poor road maintenance can cause a truck accident. There is little that can be done to avoid these situations aside from practicing safety at all times.

Sharing Ontario roadways with heavy trucks

As in other regions, roadways in Ontario are often filled with large and heavy commercial trucks. These trucks provide valuable services to citizens of Canada, but they can also mean hazards for ordinary motorists. Over the years, people have learned to be extra cautious around these motor vehicles, which is an undeniably smart approach. Colliding with or being struck by a tractor-trailer or even a large delivery van can cause severe injuries to other motorists.
