A recent crash on one of the province’s busiest highways proved deadly. The car accident on Highway 401 in Ontario claimed the lives of two individuals. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said a tractor-trailer travelling west collided with six stopped vehicles on the road. The vehicles were stopped due to a previous motor vehicle collision.
Two passengers travelling in a pick-up truck were killed as a result of the collision. Pronounced dead at the scene were a 42-year-old female and a 14-year-old male. The driver of the pick-up, a 39-year-old male, was air lifted to hospital with serious injuries. A 12-year-old passenger was also taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The incident closed the stretch of highway for about 11 hours. Police are continuing their investigation of the fatal crash. Anyone injured in a car accident can pursue compensation for issues like medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost wages due to not being able to work. Having a lawyer can lessen the stress one feels during the legal process while he or she takes time to heal from injuries.
Family members who have lost a loved one in a car accident may have the right to pursue claims for financial relief to help them with the expenses related to funeral arrangements and for other economic losses. An experienced personal injury lawyer in Ontario can also help surviving loved ones seek recovery for emotional damages if they can prove negligence of another party caused a fatal car accident. Establishing negligence may be challenging, but the help of a lawyer will prove invaluable.
