Halloween night became tragedy tragedy when three teenagers were struck by a vehicle in the Don Mills area. Ontario authorities have arrested the driver involved in the car accident under suspicion of drunk driving. In the meantime, two of the three teenagers struck are now in critical condition in local hospitals.

The accident report states that a girl and two boys, all between the ages of 13 and 14, were apparently struck by a car sometime around 8:30 p.m. on Halloween night. The accident took place in the Lawrence Avenue East and Don Mills Road area during peak trick-or-treating hours. Police say three vehicles in total were involved in the crash, but they have not commented publicly on the specifics of the accident.

Two of the three teenagers were rushed to a local hospital in serious condition. The condition of the third teen was not recorded in this report. Police arrested one of the drivers on the scene for alleged drunk driving. They say his blood alcohol level was well above the legal limit of 80 mg. No trial date has yet been set for this individual, who has not been named by police at this time.

A car accident involving the deaths of young people is always tragic, but it is perhaps even more so when drunk driving is a factor. If Ontario police prove the man was drunk at the time of the accident, he could face serious criminal consequences for his actions. In addition, the families of the deceased teen and those of the injured survivors are all entitled to file wrongful death and/or personal injury suits against the driver, even if that individual is not convicted of the charge filed against him.
