Fatal car crashes happen frequently in Ontario and throughout the rest of Canada, and the one thing they all have in common is the fact that those involved in the collision were not expecting it to happen. These crashes -- many of which can and should have been avoided -- can result in injurious and deadly consequences for those who are involved.

In one such recent and fatal car accident last week in Halton Hills, the life of a 19-year-old woman was lost. The vehicle involved in the crash was being driven by a 25-year-old man, also from Halton Hills, who miraculously survived the collision with only minor wounds. He was quickly released from the hospital. Tragically, his passenger, the 19-year-old woman, did not survive.

According to police, who arrived at the crash site at approximately 1:30 p.m., in the afternoon, they found a 2001 Nissan Sentra flipped over on its rooftop. Authorities believe that the Nissan was the only vehicle involved in the accident. Officials also believe that the accident happened at approximately 1:10 p.m., when it drove off the road and flipped over. The female victim was pronounced dead at the crash site.

Police were forced to shut down the flow of traffic on the roadway where the accident happened for several hours as they completed their investigations. The roadway soon re-opened again. However, police are still asking for any witnesses to the crash to come forward and offer their perspective on what may have occurred.

Ontario families who have lost a loved one in a fatal car crash may want to investigate the how and why of the accident. In some cases, family members of the deceased can seek financial compensation by pursuing a wrongful death action in civil court against the parties at fault for the collision.
