Big rigs, industrial trucks, tractor-trailers — whatever you like to call them — are extremely dangerous to motor vehicle drivers because they are heavy, and slow to maneuver and can crush through a smaller car and its driver and passengers in a heartbeat. This is why, whenever a big rig truck driver takes to the road, he or she is bound by specific rules and regulations designed to keep the truck driver and other drivers safe. Unfortunately, not every truck driver succeeds in staying safe and/or following the rules, and this is when catastrophic accidents and injuries can happen.
Recently, at 9:50 a.m., on Thursday, officers received word that one such truck accident had happened in Clearview Township. In fact, the accident was so severe that the Ontario Provincial Police were forced to close part of Highway 26 for hours while they investigated the crash scene. The highway remained closed until a little after 5 p.m.
The collision involved a tractor-trailer and two motor vehicles. The driver who was operating one of the motor vehicles required immediate transport to a local hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. Officers stayed at the crash site for hours, and OPP Traffic Collision Investigators also reported to the scene to determine what may have caused the incident.
It is extremely important for investigators to get to the bottom of how a truck accident may have happened. The information revealed in investigations will assist the injured victims in pursuing personal injury claims for damages against the at-fault party that caused a given crash. A skilled truck accident lawyer could also be of great assistance in pursuing such claims.
